Columbia Power & Water Systems seeks an individual for a full-time, non-exempt position to install and maintain the water distribution system.
Essential responsibilities include installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains, service water lines, and fire hydrants; repairing meter box leaks; changing out water meters; operating construction equipment including pipe tapping machine, paving breaker, air tamp, rock drill, push machine, pipe saw, air compressor, valve truck, and dump truck; and other work as assigned.
Essential functions of the job include regular attendance at work; acknowledge and adhere to all CPWS policies; perform duties safely without endangering self, others, and the public; possess and maintain valid Tennessee Class A Commercial Driver’s License;subject to 24-hour emergency call-out and stand-by; abide by residency requirement as determined by the Board (personnel subject to stand-by or after-hours call-out must reside within a CPWS service territory or Maury County); ability to lift 0 – 100 pounds for 2 hours a day; ability to lift and/or carry 25 pounds for 6 hours a day; ability to walk and stand for 8 hours a day; stoop, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time; ability to talk, see, and hear; ability to read job-related material; and the ability to work both inside and outside.
To do this job, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 3 years construction experience or related field, and complete a 4-year CPWS’ in-house apprentice program.
